Frequently asked questions about Music Studios

Do I need planning permission for a garden music studio?

Provided you have permitted development rights, you won't need planning permission unless your music studio meets one of the following criteria:

  • The external measurement is over  30m2
  • The building exceeds 2.5m in height
  • You're less then 2m away from your boundary

Most of our clients have built their dream studio within these guidlines.

If you want more information about permitted development, we recommend reading your Local Authority's guidelines or get in touch and one of our advisors will be able to help.

Can my music studio have a bathroom?

Due to the bespoke nature of our garden studios, we can install a bathroom and/or a kitchenette. This is a common request from clients who are looking to use their studio for production or music lessons and they don't want their customers to have to go into their property to use the bathroom.

What size garden room do I need for a full drum kit?

If you're looking for a music studio to store a full sized drum kit in, we'd recommend our 7.5 m x 3m or 7.5m x 4m garden rooms.

Can my music studio be sound proof?

Absolutely - if you mention to our sales team that you need your music studio to be fully sound proof, we can work with you to design the perfect solution.
